Althaea L.

アオイ科【属名】アルテア;アルタエア;ビロードアオイ属 hollyhock; marshmallow 大型の二年草または短命な多年草。

Althaea officinalis

アオイ科ウスベニタチアオイ;ビロードアオイ marsh mallow; wild mallow; marshmallow; white mallow; mortification root; sweet weed ヨーロッパ東部産。柔らかな毛があり全体が灰色がかった多年草。葉は互生しほぼ三角形で鋸歯がある。花は上部の葉腋につき、径25～40mmで淡紅藤色～ピンク色。茶や製菓・薬用などに用いる。
